About SOMBA

History:

Originally formed in 1992, SOMBA evolved into the South of Market Foundation, which then changed its name to Urban Solutions. While the business association has gone through several iterations in the past, the newly revitalized SOMBA – with its own bylaws, officers and committees – possesses an independent structure. SOMBA’s dues-paying members are intent upon growing the organization into the most effective merchant association in the city of San Francisco.

Partnering Organization:

Urban Solutions

Urban Solutions is an economic development nonprofit organization that helps foster the well-being of disadvantaged communities by working to increase neighborhood commercial vitality, strengthen small businesses, create jobs, encourage diversity and promote sustainability. Founded in 1992 as the South of Market Foundation, the organization changed its name to Urban Solutions in 2002 to reflect its expanded scope and updated initiatives. Urban Solutions works closely with the San Francisco Redevelopment Agency on façade and tenant improvement projects for the Sixth Street Economic Revitalization Program, helping property and business owners in the South of Market Project Area renovate their building facades and retail spaces.
